Among the authors are Da Vela, Longo, Saturni, and Stamerra, members of the ASTRI Mini-Array collaboration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The result was made possible thanks to the observation of the Gamma-Ray Burst <\/span><b>GRB 221009A<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with NASA\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/fermi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Giga-electronvolt (GeV) energy range, combined with ground-based measurements in the Tera-electronvolt (TeV) band performed by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/english.ihep.cas.cn\/lhaaso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><b>LHAASO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), located in Tibet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gamma rays emitted by GRBs, while traveling across intergalactic space, interact with cosmic radiation fields, produce electron\u2013positron pairs, and trigger an electromagnetic cascade. The deflection of these charged particles by intergalactic magnetic fields generates a delayed gamma-ray signal, observable at GeV energies compared to the emission detected at higher energies (in the TeV range). Thanks to its sensitivity in the TeV band, it will contribute to the study of the spectra of bright GRBs and, through the analysis of their highest-energy emission, indirectly probe the properties of primordial magnetic fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abThis result on intergalactic magnetic fields confirms the importance of studying Gamma-Ray Bursts at high and very high energies as probes to investigate the properties of the primordial Universe.
